Fleeting Light

The “Fleeting Light” Photography Competition is a core feature of the exhibition. It is designed to encourage students to capture ephemeral moments that reflect beauty, emotion, or meaning in a split second. It invites all students currently enrolled in Malaysia, regardless of faculty or experience, to interpret the theme creatively through their lens. This competition is both a platform for artistic expression and a gateway to industry recognition. Winning entries will be printed and showcased during the exhibition. In addition, sponsored prizes will be awarded, and winners will be formally recognized in an award presentation.

Eligibility

Open to all students in Malaysia (secondary schools, colleges, universities, or vocational training institutes) with valid student proof. Organising committee members are not eligible.

Submission Requirements

  • The theme must align with Fleeting Light, telling a story through light and shadow

  • Each participant may submit one (1) entry only (JPEG/JPG, ≤30MB)

  • A title and description required (≤50 words)

  • No AI-generated works, watermarks, or signatures

  • Submit via https://fleetinglight.art/competition before 15 August 2025 (Friday)

Judging & Awards

  • Top 50 shortlisted by judges

  • Top 3 winners + 3 People's Choice Awards via public voting

  • Judging Criteria: Relevance to Theme, Creativity and Originality, Technical Execution, Storytelling and Emotional Impact, Visual Presentation and Description.

Competition Period

  • Submission Deadline: 2/7/2025 (Wednesday) - 15/8/2025 (Friday)

  • Semi-finals: 16/8/2025 (Saturday) - 22/8/2025 (Friday)

  • People's Choice Award Voting: 23/8/2025 (Saturday) - 31/8/2025 (Sunday)

  • Finalist Announcement Date (Top 3): 31/8/2025 (Sunday)

  • Award Ceremony: 7/9/2025 (Sunday)

Copyright & Legal Summary

  • Participants must own full copyright; the organiser may use works for event-related exhibition and promotion only (not for sale).

  • Usage period: 5 years, with credit to the participant.

  • No AI-generated/processed works, illegal or unethical content.

  • False info or failure to provide original files may result in disqualification.

  • Awardees must provide original files, join media promo if needed, and attend the award ceremony.
